Interview with Mr Vanh – Stray Asia Guide

The following is an interview with Stray Asia Tour leader “Mr Vanh” by power blogger Cindy Fan.

Meet the Stray Crew

Meet Mr. Vanh, one of the friendly faces you’ll find at our sales office in Luang Prabang, Laos.

Mr. Vanh – Sales Crew

Home, before Straying: Xayaboury province, famous for its elephants!

What is your favorite place in Laos?

Luang Prabang. It is a heritage town and there are many activities and cultural experiences. People always say that Luang Prabang is the most beautiful place in Laos.

Why do you want people to travel Laos?

Because in Laos, we have many different cultures. Did you know that we have many ethnic groups like Hmong, Khmu and also Lao. So come see beautiful culture and people’s lives in rural areas.

If you had friends come to Luang Prabang, where would you take them? What would you show them? What would you eat?

If my friends came to Luang Prabang, I’d suggest for them to see Kuang Si Waterfalls, Pak Ou cave and the many temples in the town. Stray offers some day tours like elephant riding and weaving. And for traditional Luang Prabang style food, I’d take them for Luang Prabang stew orlam – this is very famous – jeow bong and Luang Prabang sausage.

What do you want travellers to take away from their experience with Stray in your country?

I want them to experience the homestay in Ban Lad Khammune and especially the important baci ceremony. The Stray trip shows how life is in the rural areas and in the mountains, how people traditionally live.
