Newsflash! Stray Asia prepares to stray into Myanmar

We’ve got a new word in our Stray vocab: Mingalaba! Here at Stray, we’re big fans of getting off-the-beaten-track, so we’re extra excited to say ‘hello’ to Myanmar (Burma), the newest addition to our network of hop-on-hop-off trips in Southeast Asia.

This lesser-visited country has long been closed to tourists but is now slowly opening up for travellers. As a country of diverse cultures, unique spirituality and stunning natural beauty, we can’t wait to get you there.

Added to the Stray Asia Tours is the Mandalay Adventure pass, an 11 day trip through Myanmar’s most alluring sites, and the Yangon Arrival Pack, a 3-day immersive intro to the old capital.

You’ll get to watch the sunrise over more than 3000 ancient temples in Bagan, immerse yourself in the old ways of life in Mandalay, explore the colonial hill station of Pwin Oo Lwin, relax on a slow boat down the famous Irrawaddy River, indulge in Shan home cooking in Kalaw, and see the traditional ‘leg-rowing technique of Intha fishermen in Inle Lake.

But no way is that all! In true Stray fashion, we won’t just be exploring the most famous destinations – we’ll also have plenty of off-the-beaten-track adventures accessible only to Stray travellers.

Learn to apply Myanmar’s traditional sunscreen makeup thanaka from local experts, practice balancing baskets on your head with Kalaw villagers, and try your hand at preparing the famous regional pick-me-up, betel nut. Climb Mount Popa to visit one of Myanmar’s most lively spiritual pilgrimage sites, then immerse yourself in local culture at a remote village in Shan State. And let’s not forget the chance to chat with a local Buddhist monk in Bagan, where you can learn about Burmese spirituality directly from a practitioner.

With our private, air-conditioned transport and knowledgeable guides, you’ll have access to Myanmar’s most authentic experiences and untouched destinations in comfort and safety. So come adventuring with Stray in Southeast Asia’s most off-the-beaten-track destination, and say with us – Mingalaba Myanmar!
