Kill two birds with one stone and plunge towards the crystal clear waters of the mighty Waikato River by bungy cord, before speeding alongside the cliff face above on the Cliffhanger extreme swing. This a double dose of adrenaline sure to leave you pumped and ready for more. Oh, and you’ll save yourself a bit of coin booking this way too – bonus!

Taupo Bungy Top1
You know you want to…

Get a double dose of adrenaline

Taupo Bungy is home to New Zealand’s highest water touch bungy, so it’s the perfect place to pull up and take the plunge. With your toes gripping the edge of their unique cantilever platform, perched 47 metres above the tranquil water below, you’re guaranteed not only a severe adrenaline rush but some fairly breathtaking scenery to boot.

Ready for take-off!

Once you’ve let the heart rate slow in the recovery boat below, you can begin your ascent up the scenic staircase and prepare for hit number two, extreme swing action courtesy of the Cliffhanger.

As the cord releases you’ll be swept feet first over the water below providing a unique rush and a blast of fresh air in the face, all the while reaching speeds of up to 70km/h. The Cliffhanger takes in the beauty and iconic landscape over which it swings. Whether you opt for a countdown or surprise release, one thing is for certain: you’re in for a rush like no other as the swing arcs up to close to 180 degrees.

To ensure you don’t forget your double dose of adrenaline (though it’s unlikely) there are plenty of merchandise and memento options that will ensure you have optimum bragging rights when it comes to sharing your experience with friends and family.

So forget that Big Mac combo and instead go for something with a bit more punch! The only thing better than one dose of excitement is two, so pluck up the courage, grab a mate and head on up to Taupo Bungy, chat to the awesome crew and sign up. Adrenaline awaits!

Or simply take in the views

If you’re not a thrill seeker, but there to support a buddy or just fancy a squizz at what goes on above the waters of the Waikato you won’t be disappointed. From the unique cantilever platform you’ll be able to enjoy panoramic views of the lush green bush and stunning scenery of the Waikato River Valley below. Keep an eye on the banks too, as a number of birds precariously perch there throughout the day. Grab a coffee and a snack and take it all in. Whether you’re taking the plunge or merely there as support, it’s without question a top spot to pass an hour or two.

The view’s not bad either

The Waikato River is a haven for sightseers, walkers, kayakers, swimmers and cyclists who can enjoy some of the region’s top trails that wind their way around the river’s edge. The river mouth starts at the Taupo Marina and flows through the south and greater Waikato region before ending at Port Waikato, close to Auckland.

Whether your visit to Taupo brings you in search of adventure experiences or not, one thing is for sure, the Waikato River is a must-see and there is no better view of the mighty Waikato than from the perfectly positioned Taupo Bungy site on Spa Road.

Our current Stray Tours don’t stop at Taupo, but there are bungy, zip lining and swing venues at Rotorua in North Island and Queenstown in South Island.
